Ted Todd Flooring Designs
Ted Todd offers four different flooring designs (also referred to as formats): planks, herringbone, chevron and squares.
From classic creations to bespoke innovations Woodworks craft a multitude of different flooring designs which can be used to create different laying patterns in your project.
Flooring is an essential element of design, and a specific format can undoubtedly help to create the individual style of a room. Whether you choose parquet or planks you should also consider laying pattern and direction.
Different Flooring Designs
PLANK
A classic creation using traditional wooden beams to create long wood floor planks. Available in both engineered and solid constructions, in a variety of widths, lengths and thicknesses. Our planks range from narrow width (under 140mm), to traditional floorboard width (140-180mm), wide planks (190 to 220mm), extra wide planks (220-260mm) and super wide planks (over 260mm) making them incredibly versatile. Available in both Ted Todd and Woodworks collections.
HERRINGBONE
A series of blocks can be laid at differing angles to create certain effects, and when combining with planks and blocks, there are up 19 different ways of laying herringbone. Herringbone patterns have a strong design impact and works well in all interior styles. We offer both traditional herringbone blocks (100mm to 200mm) and narrow herringbone blocks (under 100mm). Available in both Ted Todd and Woodworks collections.
CHEVRON
Chevron blocks create a beautiful ‘V’ shape, sometimes known as Hungarian Point. This is due to the shape created when the angled ends are laid usually with a 30-degree or 45-degree angle and creates the distinctive lines this style of parquet is associated with. Our Chevron blocks are 90mm wide and are available in both Ted Todd and Woodworks collections.
CONTINUOUS VERSAILLES WEAVE
A twist on the weave and Versailles designs, this creation gives the same effect, only without borders. The shape forms a never-ending Versailles or Weave effect across the entirety of the floor.
PARQUET DE VERSAILLES
Unique to Woodworks this traditional French style has become synonymous with parquet flooring, having been used in the Palace of Versailles and other regal homes throughout the centuries. Our Parquet de Versailles panel design is registered to Woodworks and cannot be found in any other floor, or anywhere else. We hand cut the elements within our panels and are the only creators in the world to match each element from panel to panel.
PARQUET DE CHANTILLY
Similar to the Versailles panel, this is a design which uses square shaped elements with a rectangular surround. It is named after the floors in the Chateau Domaine de Chantilly and provides a more contemporary look
to the Versailles.
PARQUET DE CHEVNEY
Another panel design, Chevney uses a combination of trapezium and square shapes to create an almost star shaped design within each panel.
PARQUET DE ARDECHE
A Woodworks wood floor design that combines circular shapes with straight lines throughout. When the corners of each panel meet, they create a full circle across the 4 individual elements.
GEOMETRIC PATTERN
Using hexagons, polygons and small trapezoid shapes we are able to create intricate geometric patterns. Supplied in a variety of sizes to fit all projects.
8 TILE PARQUET DE VERSAILLES
An interesting take on the Parquet de Versailles format. This design panel showcases 8 larger tiles within each panel rather than the 12 you would see in the traditional design.
CHEQUERBOARD & FINGERBLOCK
Both of these designs create a chessboard-like effect across the floor. The key difference being that fingerblock’s squares contain 3 smaller strips rather than the solid single block of chequerboard.
CIRCULAR DESIGN PANEL/SAPPHIRE
Our own unique design. It creates a fully circular floor design from a handmade panel. This design was designed and developed by Woodworks and it is a registered design (number 5004469) that cannot be replicated legally elsewhere.
CONCENTRIC DESIGN PANEL
Rather than making circles when combining elements, this design has a circle at the centre of each panel, joining each through rectangular blocks at each side.
WALL CLADDING
Our wall cladding includes other formats, such as plank and herringbone, only beyond the floor. These cladding options can be used on walls, ceilings and beyond and are often supplied in a solid construction. Our Bold Surfaces collection represents the very best reclaimed and antique cladding available.
SQUARES
Our Ted Todd squares are an unusual format for a wood floor.
Mix with planks, chevron or herringbone or lay on their own for a statement look. Check out our Create® collection to discover more.
